Saif Ali Khan the Bollywood celebrity in an interview to ET says ” I have never voted and that’s because I have never felt that I am being represented ” At the same time Saif says ” Bandra is very hip and connected and is a lovely place to live. There are lots of places to eat and I have a lot of fun here’. Bandra is a suburb in Mumbay, a happening place with lot of celebrities around.

Saif should know unless there’s a government that ensures law and order citizen can’t have peace and fun. Unless the government takes care of the huge army citizens’ life and property are not safe.If the rich and celebrities like Saif Ali Khan think on these lines I  am sure they will start thinking about the positives for voting and not think on the narrow domain of just representation.

To day when Saif complains about the heavy traffic on the roads to film city in Mumbai which he doesn’t love ,he must bear in mind so too millions of Mumbaikars suffer daily of the traffic on Mumbai roads while reaching place of work and back home. But majority also go and vote hoping for a better tomorrow. That spirit is the lifeline for our democracy.

Also the infrastructure of Mumbai is crumbling because of the neglect of the present political class in the government indulging in humungous scams that siphoned away tax payers money meant for better services and asset building.

Hence Maharashtra needs a change  of political class that can govern the state better. For that change celebrities too must vote and participate in the process of democracy and help choose the relatively worthy legislators. Hence not voting is a duty violated in a democracy.

When Saif also says he feels represented under Modi government at the same time says he doesn’t know whether he will go out and vote in the ensuing Assembly elections that’s not tenable.Since Modi has announced to hold scores of rallies in Maharashtra to seek votes for  a stable government of BJP for betterment of Maharashtra likes of Saif who feels okay with Modi’s leadership should have no doubt in going out and voting.

Celebrities of the likes of Saif have millions of followers and can be influenced to their way of thinking. This connect with masses  should be used to reinforce the idea of democracy among voters and hence say I have found the leader, I am going to vote and so fans go out and vote. That would be an additional necessary duty done towards building a strong India apart from paying of course the taxes.
