Till the low capacity carrying autos are got ridden of from  Mumbai and an effective Public Bus Service is put into action, in the interim as an ad hoc measure the authorities must do one thing to mitigate the woes of auto users. Put an end to the prevailing absentee land lords in the auto industry .

The shift system and the leasing of permits under which the autos are being plied must be ended to  relieve both the drivers as well the commuters . And the rule ‘ only those who own permit must also ply the vehicle  ‘ must  be implemented forthwith . This will kill the absentee land lords in the system and relieve the drivers of the tremendous pressure under which they   start the day. The pressure to earn the shift charges for permit owner lord first to ensure  getting  the auto the next day often results in  refusals  if a particular route doesn’t guarantee the minimum earnings.
